See, I reckon this one is an absolute bargain. Have been eyeing it off as a posible pickup for myself:

To be honest I kinda regret not having it for myself as opposed to my current. Im looking for an excuse to go and inspect it and compare it to mine.

Going to inspect it tomorrow! My brother found it on eBay and wants to go have a look. I'm taking him. If we dont pick it up (I very highly doubt we will) I will let you know if it seems to be in decent nick. (Im no mechanic but I can compare it to mine )

Just got back from inspecting the black car. Bargain for $2,000 from what I can see - however needs a lot of TLC.

      The bad-

First off, needs a gearbox replacement. Theres a grinding noise when clutch isnt engaged, however it goes into gear fine (for now) and theres no sound when the clutch pedal is pushed.
Second, it has a home spray-can paint job on most panels on the exterior, rims need a re-spray.
Thirdly, the interior is bad. Missing ashtray completely, so theres a big gap there that goes right through. Interior panels have been DIY sprayed white - needs complete re-doing. General wear and tear inside - drivers seat needs re-foaming and has been worn. Needs new centre and floor consoles - badly cracked and climate control screen is scratched terribly (i.e. can barely see anything on it at all)
Fourth, doesnt seem to have been taken care of - oil was pitch black and low (only had a chance to check it with warm engine so there wouldve been more, but still is very low).
Fifth, needs new tyres - theyre bald. Someone's been doing burnouts

      The good-

Just had suspension re-done. Guy has receipts with him.
No tappet noise, no obvious dodgy sounds - engine sounded good to me
      Low kms - 135,000
Little to no rust - couldnt see any, none on firewall or in engine bay from what I could see. May be some under home respray job but no bubbles, etc.
Comes with sound system - there was a big setup in there but that guy promised it to his son so he said he'd replace everything that he takes out (with lesser gear, but still) Big sub box, big boot install, etc. Looked custom to me. Not 100% sure
Can make money on it with a fair bit of work.

With some time and maybe $1500, less if you have parts and can get panels sprayed for nothing, it would be a good investment and a fun little project. Im keen on doing it and so is my brother but pop doesnt seem too keen on spending $2,000 on a project car which is fair enough. You could easily make money on it provided you can put in the time and effort, or even use it for parts..

That black one on ebay is a possible salvage, and especially with Dwayne having a shopping mall of parts.

Unknown engine condition, gearbox is 1 of 3 things, easy fix, remove gearbox and replace.
Tyres, easy, good service and tidy the paint and interior up.

        I reckon it'd be a decent runner.

Hell, even i'd consider it if I wanted an FTO for a daily.

Engine seems to be solid. I know its difficult to determine from just listening to it but its got a good clean sound to it. Low kms is a big plus - I know that kms isnt everything, however its a good thing to have low mileage.

$500 for a gearbox? $800 for some new (good) tyres. A couple of hundred bucks in paint and some parts from dwayne. For $2000 this car could be worth $6500+ I reckon.

If this bloke did some paint work himself and fixed the gearbox, he'd make plenty on it.. Low km manual GPX, all it needs is a bit of effort. Could flog it off for much more than the cost of a gearbox and paint.

As I said, all it needs is a gearbox, ashtray and paint to have it nice again.
