front to rear brake upgrade
alright, so my front cut should be here during the week,
i was thinking about take the front brakes off the front cut, and putting them on my rear,
any ideas or suggestions with this?

Re: front to rear brake upgrade
Well my personal preferance is to buy new brake discs and pads instead of playing around with used brakes from another car.
I'm not sure what increase in braking you'll have with the slight increase in size. And whether it's worth your trouble. I could be wrong

Re: front to rear brake upgrade
A complete upgrade to drilled and slotted are on the books for me soon. A few hundred dollars would do it for the four new discs plus then pads and bits a pieces. Still time consuming and expensive thoughConnor_1994 wrote:yeah thats what i was thinking,

Re: front to rear brake upgrade
Useless upgrade.
Slotted rotors and decent pads is all you need for an NA FTO.
You'd need a bigger brake booster i'd assume for the increase in fluid through the system?

Re: front to rear brake upgrade
There's no point in getting drilled rotors. They offer no real advantage over standard rotors, and are crap compared to Slotted as they have a much higher tendency to crack.
Put it in the "Too Hard Basket" for now and just go with the slotted rotors and some good pads. If you really want to up-size the calipers, do all 4 at the same time, or just the fronts.
Shhtuart's right. As soon as you start up-sizing the calipers at any point in the system, you'll need a bigger booster to handle it. Unlike changing the length in the brake lines, upgrading the size means that more fluid needs to be used to achieve the same amount of movement in the caliper. If you don't upgrade the booster, you'll find that when you hit the anchors your foot could go to the floor without providing any extra braking power. Not something you want to happen if you're in heavy traffic.Shhtuart wrote:You'd need a bigger brake booster i'd assume for the increase in fluid through the system?

Re: front to rear brake upgrade
Guys its not the booster you upgrade, its the master cylinder.fraz91 wrote:There's no point in getting drilled rotors. They offer no real advantage over standard rotors, and are crap compared to Slotted as they have a much higher tendency to crack.

Would hurt to learn something about brakes also!Connor_1994 wrote:hmmmm, really need to study my breaking mechanics
Meanwhile, it's a bit of a useless upgrade, and an extreme overkill one at that also.

Re: front to rear brake upgrade
best thing you could do is flush and bleed brakes that will give you more braking and better feel than just replacing discs/pads
