Freshly Imported GX Sport Manual - Sydney

Post by Daniel2019 »

Lawso and myself stumbled upon a nice GX at parramatta. It's Icelle blue, manual, GX sport (sunroof!) with only 58,XXX kms on it. Didnt test drive it although it sounded very clean and started up pretty well after being down for a while. The guy (even though hes a used car salesman) seemed to be a good bloke - he strongly suggested getting professional checks done for vehicles and gave us a couple of leaflets on places. It was an imported used car shop (cant remember the exact name, will check tomorrow, I got his card).

He was asking for $14,000 for it. Said to me that he could do around $10,000 if I traded mine in. That included 3 years warranty, 6 months rego and 12 months of NRMA roadside assistance. He did say that he's had the car for around 5 months and hasnt been able to move it which either suggests somethings wrong with it or people simply dont want FTOs - could be easily negotiable seeing as its been there for a while.

Unfortunately we didnt think to get any pictures :geny:

If anyones interested let me know and Ill get some more details from the card he gave me (its in the car at the moment.. cbf going out to get it.. its cold!)

EDIT - its a 1998 model!

I would think the reason it hasn't moved is he's simply asking too much. Sure it's only done 58K kms (assuming that's genuine) and it might be in good nic, but he's asking GPvR money here for a GX. Not gonna happen for anyone who knows there FTO's.

Have it tested by NRMA (ignore his recommended 'mates') and if all is cocher and it is in excellent condition maybe offer him $6K tops.

Yup, price is steep. From memory the brochures he gave werent for mates as far as I could tell. I think one was NRMA and the other one was about getting a REVS check. Will double check tomorrow, not 100% sure. I didnt really read them because Im not buying it, we were just curious.

Car seems to be in great nic apart from some small paint chips and the drivers side mirror doesnt fold (dstooocksss!!). There was small amounts of wear inside, mainly gear knob. Seemed to be all stock, all fluids were correct, etc.

Haha, I think I remember seeing this one on tradingpost or something ages ago.

And it was $15k then.

Then there's this guy, http://www.carsales.com.au/private/deta ... in,Max~0.5

Had it slowly dropping to $6,500, till he maybe looked around at all the other examples. Don't think it's going to sell any faster though.

edit: also, while on the topic, what is the very most one should pay for a low km GPX or GPvR?

The leaflets the bloke gave me for inspections were for "Stateroads" and "AVI", not NRMA (shh one of them is blue)

I paid $13,350 for my 1998 GPVR Aero back in February. It had 57,371km or something similar on it when I got it. With a few special bonuses on the car including ARC chamber and Creative side skirts.

But that was imported straight from Japan so my pricing included the car, shipping, compliancing and the usual other fees, paperwork and bullshit..
There are two types of people on forums; those that give helpful advice, and the others

1998 Mitsubishi FTO GPVR AERO ;)

Hmm, sounds a lot like how things are at the moment at the top of the years pile on carsales. Save the guy who wants 13K for his vR with 165,000 kilometres on it. But I saw a really nice symphonic silver GPX go down to 7K, manual and 135,000 k's on it.

I wouldn't be considering anything at that price mate, keep looking. Their values are nowhere near that any more, just another dealer trying to line his pocket.

Redbook puts them at between $6000 & $8800.

There have been a few around that mark. Seems to be a bit of a domino though, if just a couple people push up the price then everyone else does.

Im not in a rush for anything. Still staying with my auto GPX until school is finished. I cant be between cars at the moment. We were just curious more than anything, the FTO randomly appeared in a dealership and it hasnt been on the internet from what Ive looked at.

Im just going to save as much as I can with my current FTO, sell, then see what I can get for a good price in a few months :cheeky:
