Re: New Job
Exactly right, anything computer related you will need some kind of degree from a university or an online course at the very minimum. Maybe if your very savvy and have connections you might get a help desk job somewhere.
Mechanical you will have to take up an apprenticeship, or again at the very least some kind of intensive tafe course paired with on site experience.
Its pretty much retail or nothing when it comes to no experience jobs with no connections

Re: New Job
I once faced a very similar issue. I don't even have my Stage 1 SACE from high school as the combination of swine flu, glandular fever and bacterial meningitis resulted in my absence for most of the year...
Try retail for now and get some sales experience, as it can bring in some good cash if you're good at it!
Try and think about what you ENJOY doing and if you haven't got the education to back up a career in what you like, then look it up and get going!
There's this bullshit saying that goes "If you enjoy what you do, you'll never work a day in your life" ...But it's still bloody work and we all know how hard it is to get in the porn industry.

Re: New Job
(F*cking god damn it, wont link! Bennnnnozzzzz it happened again!)
Seems relevant.
In terms of automotive, have you looked at any specific fields? I know you said you didnt want to be a mechanic, but theres other branches.
Auto electrician, panel beater and/or painter, heavy vehicle mechanics etc. etc. Could be worth some research. Theres other things apart from just being a mechanic
