Saw a video last night of one done like that, Just no idea how to do it, because I thought they worked the opposite of how I thought it should?

It would just need to be wired in with a relay.

Hmm true, I'm guessing you'd wire up all 5 to one relay?

You wouldn't need 5 switches, as long as the magnet makes contact with them in each gear you could get away with just a couple of them. But yes, they would all be wired to the same relay.

Alright, so I got a couple of reed switches today.
The one for 1/3/5 should be simple to put in place,
but the one for 2/4/R may be a bit more fiddly, but it should work :)
