Sounds like you're onto a damn sweet deal Taz. Don't take it for granted. ;)

I've been with Ultimate Suspension now for just over 12months, and am loving the work. Much smaller workshop than what you're in, and I'm only 6months through my tafe course so far (Automotive Specialist: Suspension & Steering). Hopefully will be doing a 2D and 3D CAD course done soon as well so I can start helping out with the designing side of the springs and shocks. There's a lot more to shock valving than most people realise. Quite often doing one thing will actually do the reverse of what you want it to. Can be extremely frustrating at times.

Does this mean I may become the next Bennoz? 8O
I'll have an FTO one day... i swear!

until then:
1. 2001 Merc-Benz A160 (porta-loo on wheels)
2. 2007 Peugeot 307 TDi (more fun than you'd expect)
3. 2009 Mitsubishi Triton Di-D (a monster in its own right)
4. 1992 Nissan NX Coupe (club car and project car)
5. 1996 Holden SB Barina - "The Nugget"
6. 1996 Jeep XJ Cherokee Sport - The Budget Build
7. 2010 Toyota Landcruiser 76 Series - V8 Goodness... - Build coming soon.
8. 1990 Audi 90 manual - The delightfully dignified daily driver

You're thinking of escapingfate, I has never flipped a car...

It may or may not be on the 'to do' list though

I think he was referring to the silver one that was flipped before being crushed.

And congrats taz,

Though you are over 21, yes?
So you are a mature age apprentice, so you're getting paid award rate so not as great as you think. Still it's enough to live off.

Good luck with your apprenticeship !

If i factor in overtime (which is usually the same each week ive been told) it will work out to be just over 650 a week AFTER tax, which is definitely more than enough to live on.
And cheers :D

So contract hours are 47 (thats with an early finish friday) but realistically, im doing 12 hour days, will probably be over 55 hours each week (at overtime) so this job will actually pay pretty well, not to mention a guaranteed several dollar pay increase every year

Yea but i love this sh*t.

Today i learnt how to change a wheel bearing on a truck, change a timing belt and water pump properly, i can fully balance tyres now and theres a nice evo2 clubspec WRX that needs some work done - think i might wander over and give a hand on it ;)
Theres engine xplants going on every week as well almost so by the end of a year or two, i will have pretty much done everything possible to a car several times.

Guess the only thing left to do (this one is aimed at you Ben) is to take tabs on how long it will take me to get sick of this sh*t and go do a white collar job earning more.
