Boot light only works when a door is open

Post by Technikhaus »

Hey all,
I noticed this the other day, I always thought that the light was blown in the boot.
But the other day I also had one of the doors open when I opened the boot, and I realised that the light was working...
Does anybody know what may cause this?

Thanks,
Braydon.

sounds like you might have the light wired wrong - a quick test can fix that though.

Get someone to get in your boot and close the boot. open your door with the person still inside and the boot closed - get them to see if the boot light always comes on when your door is open, if so it sounds like your boot light is wired in as a door light/into the door open relay or what have you.

Hmm... now to find someone who would trust me to lock them in the boot.......

But cheers, I will see if I can do that.

I think the boot light comes on when the door is open on all fto's
If that's the case then it's your boots open sensor not sensing that your boot is open

But yea, vectose might be onto something, maybe the boot light sensor was stuffed in the car and they just wired it to the door light :?:

a lot of cars will do this, IF they have an alarm system fitted.

what a lot of installers do IF they are LAZY! is wire the DOOR OPEN alarm trigger into a door light circuit, and if it isnt dioded, then when you open your door, the boot light will come on also, as it isnt dioded.

does your boot light come on even if the boot is closed?

if so, this is the case.

if not, get a manual for your fridge, and rewire your fridge!

I ended up fixing this, as the wire wasn't plugged into the boot lock
Cheers for that info Alexplicit, may have a look at that, as the boot light is on even if it thinks that the boot is closed.
