I know I'm totally disregarding the advice given me in my signature, but what the hey.

I'll get an FTO for a weekender when I'm middle aged and wealthy (if they haven't all been written off and parted out), but for now to make what I do have a little more exciting. Definitely notice the change in engine noise, but idle and travel is still nice and smooth.

I'm just hoping my brother and dad don't notice. :silent:

(sort of had to cut some of the stock bracketing to fit it)

It is indeed. '02 Protege, with all of it's 4cyl 1.8L 93kw from the factory power.

Now slightly increased, barring loss over 10 years.

Not really! And we've got the hills around adelaide which don't need a lot of speed to make them fun either. 8)

I don't have too much to compare the killerwasps to though. Mainly just our 2003 MPV, which although is a 3.0L V6 with about the same power as an FTO, it's a freakin' whale. Oh, and a friend's '96 Swift Cino. That was slow, but it was manual so it was pretty fun to drive.

Let alone seeing it! :? :| :pale:

My brother's have been hassling me to get a new head unit. Mine doesn't play CDs anymore, but somehow the radio still works.

Was thinking about new rims+tyres, but it's already fun to throw around the bends and I've been talking to a mate about getting the exhaust done. Then we'll see how I'm going for money.

How is the fuel economy of it?
I was thinking about getting the 5 door hatch but according to carsales it uses 9L/100km urban which is a lot for a 1.8 I thought.
Considering same aged Pulsar/Corolla/Civic etc according to carsales is in the 7L/100km urban range.

Yeah, I would suggest that the fuel economy is probably not so great. I've never actually done the fill tank test though. Bearing in mind that the biggest contributing factor is my 10Kg right foot. Could probably squeeze a lot more out than I do.

Otherwise fairly happy. Nothing has gone horribly wrong mechanically in the 10 or so months I've had it so far, so that's good.

Any chance of doing the fill and calculate test?
9L is pretty thirsty (if carsales is accurate) seeing as automatic 3.5L Verada is around 11L/100km

When I fill up next I'll have a go, and I'll even try to go easy on the revs to see what it would be like if you babied it.

edit: might even save me some money

That would be really great. As they are good value for money but I think their economy is a let down. At 9L/100km it's as economical as a larger car (eg, the 2.3L 1998-2002 Accord).

Mm, true. And if it's not a sportscar it should really have fuel economy going for it. Fuel prices are looking okay lately, so shouldn't be too long and I'll be back. I drive to work 4 days a week plus other errands for my family.

Important edit: also bearing in mind the has the aforementioned intake on it, which I've heard gives better fuel economy. remains to be seen at sensible acceleration.
