Trial at Mechanics

Got a trial in January at a place down the road from me

The owner seems like hes a good bloke. Even recommended me a place to get the heads done on my project engine

And finished HSC today. What a good day!

Ive heard very good things about him as a mechanic, I know a few people that take their cars there and theyve all said positive stuff. Pretty excited to work for him actually, should be able to learn a lot from him

Damn straight. I'm close to calling quits on my current job managing a 24/7 roadhouse for a complete C*^T. Now i've just gotta work out which direction to go, so many job offers from so many different fields, including one up in Queensland (would be a holiday while I worked) haha.

Pay actually doesn't bother me as long as I like it. Earn enough in my current job but what's the point when you come home exhausted and in crap moods...

Finding a place that looks after you while you're an apprentice is one of the best things you can come across. Make sure you put in the hard yards and make yourself invaluable to them.

Same for me really. While money is nice, id rather be doing a job I like, and to me, Id love to wake up everyday and think "I get to make a corvette go really fast today" not really but you get what I mean

He seems to. As I said, he's already recommended place to take the heads from my project engine, who will do good work and most likely give me lower prices if I mention him. He also highly recommended Ultimo tafe if given the choice as theyve spent $$$ lately on their program on dynos and other gear and stuff.

Seems as though I can learn a lot there, and Id rather learn things properly even if it is at a little bit less money (which im not sure it is, I didnt ask, and most places I assume would be minimum wage anyway so meh! Knowledge is power!).

Hopefully all goes well and I will be working there for many years to come

I have a little bit of a start, being in the middle of the engine (heads are ready to be yanked off ), pulling the engine out of an FTO and a couple of other bits and pieces here and there so im not starting from absolute scratch.. not quite

Doesn't hurt to always read ahead. Like I said, be invaluable.

By the sounds of it, you're in good hands in this place. Make sure you work quickly and effectively, and be sure of everything. Double (and sometimes triple) check your work, as you can never be too sure of what has and hasn't been done. If you're working on a vehicle with someone, go over their work and have them go over yours. That way nothing is left to chance.

I see to many people in the workplace finish a task and say nothing .. Most of the time, those people don't last long...
