UPDATE TIME

Clutch Slave Issue;

This is what one of the lancer guys has going on, moving the slave to the other side of the arm.

Image

While it works, this was my plan B.

I thought i could get the slave out of the turbo's way by moving it up and back alittle

Prototype 1 - Worked but was not happy with the slave arm angle

Image

Prototype 2 - Worked very well, need to swap the bleed valve and the banjo bolt

Image

was very happy with option 2. Finally install pics.

Is it just me, or does it look odd seeing an intercooler with a facelift bar :? . I'm not saying it's stupid or anything, looks good, I'm just used to seeing pictures of intercoolers with larger aftermarket bars on the FTOs ;)

Well here is my thoughts on that, a) I haven't found a aftermarket bar i love enough to buy it b) my experience with aftermarket bars is they never fit right and require re-finishing to get perfect c) as im building this for daily duties, I may yet paint the intercooler black.

spetz wrote:Syntax, any chance you will be able to weigh the 6A12 and 4G93 to see the weight difference?

I didnt get to weight the engines alone, but today the whole car is now 89Kg lighter with intercooler and piping in.

89kg lighter than previously weighed or stated in the manual?
I think the 89kg difference cannot be from just the motor

If I am asking, then I care. This much should be abundantly obvious, but maybe not to all.

Id have to be inclined to agree with spetz.
89kg is a lot of weight out of a block alone. And with the added weight of intercooler/turbo.piping etc it makes you wonder where all that weight went and where it was!

Yeah its lots be interested to compare power and torque with mine being 6a12 single turbo. The loss of weight will be down to smaller block only one head and extractor few less cams etc. Turbo cooler and piping weigh bugger all

Nice update indeed!
Looks great, and top work on the slave.

Meanwhile on weight, I dropped 25kgs alone by the difference of 600ml of capacity between my Astron motor, and sirius motor.
Losing 2 pistons and as VIP said, it does add up.

As also made mention, there's no exhaust yet also, so add some kilos back for that system to bolt on, it won't be 89kgs, but it will still count. *unless the weigh in had previous exhaust..*

the weight was measured with a load displaying hoist. The whole car (without me in it) its 89Kg lighter now with full stainless exhaust (glovebox and lower driver side plastics are still out but prob 1kg stop combined). There was a few kg alone in just the difference between the cast factory y pipe section of the exhaust compared to the dump+straight stainless now. The rest has to be just the block difference.

The intercooler itself prob weight 3-4Kg, all the piping is Ali so its next to nothing.

Oh the car is also driving around now, still on wastegate pressure (7psi) until i triple check everything and change to the evo6 ecu.

I'm actually excited to see if the handling changed. In my excitement I also ordered last night Cusco Zero-1 Coilovers, Cusco Lower H Brace, and Cusco Rear Strut Brace.

Definitely will have changed, you'll notice it for sure.
I know I did with the lighter front end.
