i used to live in whyalla

there isnt a lot there, but there are some shopping centres, and they have gotten bigger over the years
pt lincoln isnt far from wuddina, might be better shopping from there.

my best mate used to be the butcher there...

unless you are already a country boy, i think you will find a HUGE need for adjustment.

i have lived on the eyre peninsula and the yorke peninsula
you COULD reduce the time to get to adelaide by using the ferry between wallaroo and cowell
the it would be like 45 mins to cowell
the ferry ride, and 1.5 hours to adelaide.

good luck with the job

Had my phone interview with the tech tonight, 35min, went well :D
If I get the offer they will pay for relocation, I won't have to pay it back if I give 2 years service, I will have to pay back half if service is shorter.
Out of my hands again for now.

I just received a phone call from S.A.
They are flying me and my family down to Adelaide on Monday 4th March, booking us a hire car and accomadation (Crystal Brook or Port Pirie) and flying us home on Tuesday 5th.
They want to meet us and show us the area, I will have meetings with company directors and managers, meet the staff and look around at some rentals.
Both them and me can then make informed final desicions on whether this move is right for us.
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Sounds bloody great mate. They sound like they are going to look after you if they're willing to put that much effort into getting you here.

It'll be a big change though if you do move down here haha

We are all excited... :P
Driving down to Sydney tonight, staying at my oldies place.
Mum will drive us to Sydney airport in the morning for our 11:05am Jetstar departure to Adelaide.
Arrive Adelaide 12:40pm, find Budget rent-a-car to collect our ride, hoping for a FTO
Drive up to Crystal Brook and wooh the future employers.
Drive to Port Pirie, time for a look around, staying in a 2 bedroom cabin at Bentleys.
Tuesday, drive back to Adelaide for our 1:10pm Jetstar departure to Sydney.
Arrive Sydney 3:35pm, picked up by Mum, back to the oldies and drive home.

Had a great trip to SA, although the whole trip was rush, rush, rush
The plane was delayed an hour out of Sydney and half hour out of Adelaide.
Picked up hire car from Adelaide, latest model Corolla, 2.5 hour drive to Crystal Brook.
We got to Crystal Brook at 4:45pm, had a quick 45min interview and tour of the business. They payed for dinner at the Royal Hotel.
Off to Port Pirie at 6:30pm, time for a quick drive around town, buy some supplies and then book into cabin. (didn't have time to look at rentals, on-line they seen priced reasonable)
Up at 6:45am Tuesday and straight back to the Crystal Brook business for a 8:00am interview, had to leave at 9:00am to make it back to Adelaide for the flight home.
Got home at 9pm after stopping at the oldies for dinner.

Temps were 36 degrees, bugs/flys/mozzies were abundant.

Job details...
They are willing to train me on there John Deere tractors/harvesters, including on-line factory training in my own time.
Hours 8am - 5pm off season, 7am - 7pm during 3 months of seeding and 3 months of harvesting.
Pay $30 p/h flat rate (60,000 - 75,000 pa, dependant on hours worked), that's right no overtime/weekend/public holiday allowances.

I would have to relocate my gear and cars, they will pay for airfares. Cars are $441 each on the train. No quotes yet for removalist.

Unsure whether to take the offer?

Welcome to South Australia, the state of all the weird, wonderful and fkin annoying buys and stuff haha.

I guess in the end it's up to yourself and your family. It is a big move and requires a lot of commitment :?

Agreeing with kiz. What did your family make of it? Would they be happy with the shift?

A move like that requires Dedication:LVL100

See what your family thinks of it and what your FTO thinks of it, and then weigh up their opinions :)
