FTO Towbar

Post by Bennoz »

Been trying to get rid of this for months

I've welded up some damage that it had, so it's good to go. $40 bucks!

It's no good for pulling massive trailers, but would suit bike rack etc

Hey Sahin.

How set are you on getting this?

Ben, reckon it could haul around under 500kg?

I think the thing to ask is would your FTO pull the weight properly, not necessarily the towbar. (Not trolling)
I fix cars.

Well its not like its going to have 500kg resting on the tow hitch, I think you'd be able to carry a medium sized boxed trailer with a motorbike in it comfortably.

Don't forget FTO's aren't a torque monster.

The FTO in design principal is like any other 'small car'.
On that basis, the general maximum tow rating is around 650kgs.
So it SHOULD.

Well, the tow hitch is more my main concern, having seen this in person I'm aware of the less than perfect design, if anything I'd have the hitch part improved.

A small box trailer laden weight of no more than 100kgs and carrying smallish loads like a couch, dismantled bed frame and other items below 100kgs would be the idea.

I can't see it being an issue, but the hitch itself and how it is now is more my concern.
