Just finished putting a set of Fusion 6" Components in the front and a set of Nakamichi 6" x 9 " in the Back with a rear deck Mod.
sounds heaps better.

Also put some sound deadening on the underside of the boot lid. made a huge difference.

Got mine from autoBarn think it was $45 for a pack. think there was either 6 or 10 sheets in the pack
I have only used 2 sheets for the boot lid. cut it into triangles to fit and trimmed the corners.
worked a treat.

Will head down to autobarn on Monday and check it out. The speakers sound awesome though. Huge upgrade from the stock. :-)

Did the same to mine when I did my system, words really cannot describe the effectiveness of this sh*t. It's amazing.

was considering lining the bootlid with something to hide the silver.

Also made up a timber deck for the back of the boot to place amp on at later date

I just got a big block of foam and crammed it into the boot lid where there was or would be metal on metal from vibration. Never heard a peep from it.
So its definitely and alternative albeit weight reduction alternative :)
