Not sure if thats a stupid question or not but going onto doorsteps of random people's houses doesnt seem completely... safe?

Always carry some lube... I mean change. You never know when you might be asked to deliver to a random lemon party. Also, watch a lot of porn flicks so that you know your answer if a girl asks for extra sausage toppings
