At which part? The barina itself? The pink slip? The falcon?

Or just the thread?

Also nobody understood my title... I was implying that the barina is mightier than the mini! :(D):
In this instance, I'm going to go with the entire thread

And when you use the word 'mighty' relative to a car, the vehicle in question should at least be able to pull a greased stick out of a dog's arse

He's allowed to use different adjectives.

Even if they're blatantly incorrect.

It is... but I have since discovered a little plastic flower stuck to the window, hence why it is now majestic.

Alrighty, so I've had the car a little over a week now, and it's going pretty well. Just fits my toolbox in the boot, and can still put the back seats up! Doesn't go very fast with around 150kg of tools in there though

A few things I've found:

Overheats in traffic (already known)
Air-con has no gas (known)
There's a hole in the cat converter.
The heater core has been bypassed, and still manages to leak

Other than that it's going pretty well. Drinks e10 like it's going out of fashion, but is not too bad on 95. am currently averaging about 7L/100km to and from work.

Will be doing a full service on it this weekend, replacing leads, plugs, fluids, filters, and draining the coolant to check out the temp sensors in the radiator.

Like I said, I actually thought it had an aftermerket muffler or something on it

Eh, I have always used at least 95 in all my cars. Can it even take E10?

Firstly, lol.

Secondly, it's a POS, it would run on urine.

Much like my old Peugeot, that thing would run on bad wine and cheese.

Alright, so as you would have seen yesterday was a productive day for once!

Managed to change the following:
Replaced Spark Plugs
Replaced all the spark leads (including coil-pack to dizzy)
replaced air filter
flushed engine
replaced oil filter
new oil
replaced fuel filter (the fuel draining from it was dark brown...)
removed tool box from boot. (extra 5kW)
Degreased the engine bay

The car definitely runs a lot better, but still has the unmistakeable lifter tick from piston 1. Next service I'll do the timing and serpentine belts, and water pump/thermostat while it's all apart.

I'll have to get a few photos later. It needs some TLC on the paint-work, that's for sure. Also worked out the overheating issue isn't an issue. Temp gauge at 102.5 and the fan comes on, dropping it back to 97.5 before turning off. When measuring the heat at the water pump, it was pretty much 100degC when the fan was on, and 95degC when it turned off.

edit: Got the photos of the oil and fuel filters up!

So this is what the fuel filter looked like when I swapped it out. The fuel draining from it was dark brown as well, so I don't think it's been changed in quite a while.

And this is what happens when you don't have a filter removal tool and the previous bright-spark mechanic wound the filter on using one. Might I add, pry-bars and hammers make for great filter removal tools.

I have finally decided on a name for the barina:
"The Nugget"

Mainly because it's got an agricultural little motor in it with no power but a heap of torque, but also because it drives exactly how it feels. With the wheels at each corner, it handles alright, definitely no FTO though.

Anyway, picked up some new wheels for the nugget from bennoz, however I'm still searching for the other two.

Stance is awesome, and the wheels clear everything. 8)
