When I separated the KNUCKLE from the LOWER CONTROL ARM with no mechanical experience I had KNUCKLE and LOWER CONTROL ARM on the ground and just bashed the LOWER CONTROL ARM with a hammer and it fell out of the KNUCKLE.

But you don't need the tool even if you cant separate the tie rod from the steering knuckle.

What you do is loosen the tie rod nut on the rack end then turn the rack end/tie rod until it comes out of the tie rod end housing completely. This will let you get the boot off, and by undoing the two strut bolts you can pull the drive shaft out to change the joint! Remember to either count the turns when loosening the tie rod so you know how many turns to get it back on.

So how did you get the tie rod back into the tie rod end? You screwed the tie rod into the tie rod end? What happens when you do the opposite (turn tie rod anti clockwise)? It comes out right? That means you can change your boot and you can breeze past the waking stage or special tool stage as you don't have to do this step!! As stated above!!

Why you remove the lower control arm? Your previous thread mentioned steering boots so I thought it was the tie rod end you where trying to remove.

:cheeky:

In my situation/ thread.
I was attempting to swap front hubs with one I borrowed from Bennoz.
All the way to the ball joint, and that's where it ended.
