The one time I wish I had a FB account
I'd tell this feminist bitch to get off the road.
Start up the band wagon BS on female getting screwed over with servicing.
Cause you know, all guys have the knowledge of a champion mechanic.

Oh, and there's also something funny about Hyundai not knowing their cars...

Re: The one time I wish I had a FB account
Playing devil's advocate here ....
Women get treated badly a lot of the time when it comes to cars. It's not feminist BS, it's actually true. Some men still believe they are superior in all things mechanical It's just assumed women don't know anything and therefore must be 'taught a lesson' by fuckwits who think they are smarter/better. The problem is women shouldn't HAVE TO educate themselves to be treated fairly. People should just do their frakking jobs regardless of the client's sex.
sorry, shall step down from my soapbox now

Re: The one time I wish I had a FB account
reminds of when my daughter was learning to drive. we bought her an old Mazda 1300.
1st thing was give it a service, plugs / oil / filters etc
we went to the local car spares and Kelly went to the counter with her list and started to ask for the parts.
"could i please have a set of plugs for a Mazda 1300 year(cannot remmeber)."
guy behind counter "what colour is it? (trying to be clever)
Kelly "can I please speak to the manager and not his monkey"
all that heard burst into laughter and the guy appologiesed profusely.
twas a magic moment. nobobody picks on my daughter!

Money can't buy happiness, but it can help you look for it quicker, in a convertible.

There were 10 females at my TAFE doing their diesel mechanic apprenticeships.
Just thought I would say.

Re: The one time I wish I had a FB account
In the end, there was little reason for the statement. There was nothing stipulated prior to warrant it.
If it were a more true case, then the other 2 garages she visited would have said "Yeah love, looks like your seats need to be rotated too, the mileage is high on the drivers side."
I had sympathy with her up until that comment.
Besides, what's worse, a recommendation for getting a bill of parts that don't exist, or a company stating the parts need to be replaced in the first place.
Pity there was no insight on which outlet it was.

Actually I believe the other year of all the diesel apprenticeships in Australia that the MTA offered, 80% of the positions were occupied by femalesPHIL069 wrote:There were 10 females at my TAFE doing their diesel mechanic apprenticeships.

I also know a female diesel mechanic, I say good on them (drifts off to lesbians wrestling in oil)....
There are two types of people on forums; those that give helpful advice, and the others

At least this 'reporter' focused on the main issue.
And yeah, lol, $83 for window wiper inserts, not even my Mercedes costs that much for a basic part.

Pretty sure I paid $12 for "aero" style wipers. Not just the inserts.

So did you notice a significant reduction in weight?Vectose wrote:Pretty sure I paid $12 for "aero" style wipers. Not just the inserts.
Are they at least adjustable so you can set up ideal downforce?

Does that mean that you now have a GPvR Aero Edition?Vectose wrote:Pretty sure I paid $12 for "aero" style wipers. Not just the inserts.

Didn't even think about that when I bought them, just needed new wipers.Daniel2019 wrote:So did you notice a significant reduction in weight?Vectose wrote:Pretty sure I paid $12 for "aero" style wipers. Not just the inserts.

Re: The one time I wish I had a FB account
You don't need to be completely in the know about everything 'car' but some people need to get a clue. If someone is dumb enough to not question that changing wipers shouldn't cost an arm and a leg, well, they deserve to pay an arm and a leg.
Common sense should prevail, regardless of age/sex/etc. There are too many people in society hiding behind ignorance, or as I know it, dumb-ass-ness.
I don't buy into this victim mentality.
I want my 2 cents, thanks.

As have I.KyzPride wrote:yep know the feeling.. been screwed over on countless occasions!!
I have a receipt for front wheel bearing replaced.
I have bearings that have never been replace in the wheel hubs of the car.
It's not just females.
End of story.

Tried, and as I posted in that thread couldn't get the hub off the ball joint.Bennoz wrote:Did you do that swap yet?Astron_Boy wrote:I have a receipt for front wheel bearing replaced.

Pumped the hub full of grease and it was a whole lot quieter on the drive to and from Dwaynes.
As is now, Will be taking the entire assembly off Lawsos car, control arm, hub and strut and whacking it in ours.
Will return your hub
But it's def the bearing.
Asshole mechanic.

You mean yo have finally found the source of the noise, and it would have been fixed a long time ago if the mechanic had done what you payed him to do?
LED ALL the things.

That good sir, is as they say, nailing it.Supplanter wrote:You mean yo have finally found the source of the noise, and it would have been fixed a long time ago if the mechanic had done what you payed him to do?
In the interim I now know the entire front end will be 100% after changing these bearings.
Steering rack
Tie rods
accessory belts
engine pulleys
engine mounts
brake discs and pads
new wheels and tyres
All to find the damn noise.
But still, means a portion of money was wasted.
