Yeah, I'm a huge JVC fan. I bought all new components for the FTO - amp, subwoofer, headunit - in JVC and it's an awesome sound system :) I have Kicker 6x9 speakers in the parcel shelf and I'll be replacing the door speakers with either JVC or Kicker's when I can afford it.

Did you install it yourself or get it professionally done?

I got my professionally done as I know absolutely zero when it comes to stereo install (I can build a computer, but I'm dumb as when it comes to car audio - go figure lol). Cost me $198.

Wow, that sounds really cheap...did you buy your stereo brand new? Is it a single deck or a touchscreen? Who was the installation through?

All comes down to what your willing to fork out , u can buy 2way kicker speakers for roughly the same price u can buy excellent quality 5way pioneer speakers which are way better in my opinion. I try to buy the best of the "less popular" brands
But if your loaded :D go for the best of the best !

I've got alpine doubledin
Fusion monoblock amp
Jvc in the doors
Pioneer 6x9s in back
Pioneer Lowprofile 12"sub in the boot

Have been complemented a few times on how good the setup sounds And asked what type I chose, bitsa everything :)

I just don't get the whole tablet route? How is it better than a stereo? It seems to be the 'in' thing at the moment so there must be advantages. Inquiring minds want to know

$198 was just for install, not all my components. I managed to buy everything from Supercheap for less than on Ebay - they were having a massive sale on audio the day I walked in there with cash lol
Headunit was $249, 1200w subwoofer was $59 and 1000w 4 channel amp was $114. Headunit and amp are not 'top' of the range but I can make my boot lid bounce with this setup :)

It's just that there are a lot more features on a tablet. I still have a hidden head unit that the tablet plugs into. (Which is not needed, but I wanted to use some of the features of the head unit, like Bluetooth hands free)

But when you compare a tablet to a touch screen head unit, the tablet is way more responsive and has a better/customisable layout and you can put things where you want etc.

A Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 can be had for $198 brand new now, even cheaper used.

I picked up JVC 2 way fronts and Pioneer 6X9 rears from Supercheap for $98 total just before the bonfire. They had 2012 models on clearance plus a storwide 20% off for members. :)
Just replaced the stock speakers with the new ones, and done :) Easy to do it yourself as long as you have all the wirings in place.

Being an SCA member does tend to pay off if you buy from there regularly. I ended up with $40 credit after their last big sale.

Another question...for those who have sub and amps...how the hell do they fit? I just looked in my boot and it's tiny... :?

Re: Stereo Advice...

By filling up your entire boot. Or you can do as I did and build a custom box for 2 8" subs that is tiny and fits behind the strut towers.

Yeah, hang your amp behind the seat, chuck the sub into a prebuilt box and lose a bunch of space .... and put your shopping in the front passenger floor space and seat :D

Or, do all that, then steal Vectose's idea when you have the money and gain all your boot space back
