quick question

Post by Taz »

Long story short, after googling and it literally coming up with nothing im resorting to ask on an FTO forum
Where can i get leather studded? Have a rather intricate pattern to do myself by hand, and id rather take it to someone who can do it professionally. I have no idea what kind of shop would do it so i cant even flip open a white pages etc. Anyone done this before?

Cheers

They sell products not provide studding services...
Surely someone can provide useable info?

Says they do saddlery. Ill give em a go though...although again id rather someone who has a lot of experience as ive just purchased a tailored custom leather jacket and I really dont want it botched, its a fairly intricate pattern for studs and im a perfectionist

How indricate do you think saddles are?
They have studs + indricate patterns all over them.
I think a saddle worker would be more professional at leather work than a belt maker.

The general jist im getting jere though is shops that with leather will have to do it? Is there no places that would specifically do it? Or does it on a regular basis for customers? (Not just something they do for their own products etc?) Has studding jackets gone that far out of fashion lol?

Edit: yea but wouldnt soft leather jacket be a bit different tk saddles etc? Ive sent them an email anyway.
I actually know someone who is connected to a massive biker gang lol....probably could get it done by them if I didnt refuse to interact with those sorts of people haha

Was it ever "in" fashion? I know not in my lifetime.. But things may be different in QLD..

I dont know lol im borderline gen y lol. Just assumed it was probably a fad back in the 80s or 70s seems like something that would be in fashion.

Back in the 80's it was in fashion, but most peeps did it themselves or bought it already done.
In saying that there was a shop in Sydney that specialised in doing custom leather work and studding back in the 80's.

Yea I figured it had to be a fad at some stage. Seems theres no specialist shops anymore. Not enough demand I guess. There was one other place I found that did the jacket and coukd stud the pattern for an extra 175 but the jacket was 600 and in set sizes. Mine was 215 delivered and is tailored...hopefully I can find someone to do it for under 250!
