Can you peel off the vinyl wrap if you want to go back to original color?

Can you vinyl wrap plastics which aren't smooth?
For example vinyl wrapping the under door sills to mimic brushed aluminum might be an idea

Automars. Dont rush in though, ill try it and we'll assess the quality. If its all good, im going to try and set up a group buy/club price for people. Would be sweet if I could develop an arrangement like the one I have with the fibreglasser so people can get an even better deal. He's already offered me $150 off my 2nd FTO. If I get enough people interested, I can possible swing something even better.

To be honest I am a bit skeptical about it.
    Are there any known disadvantages?
Will it look as good as a polished paintjob?

I've seen videos etc done of it and it seems like you can do it at home with a few friends. If worse comes to worst you can do the easy panels like doors, hood, trunk, roof, fenders etc and pay the pros to do things like bumpers and maybe rear quarter panels

Yeah, im going to have shot at it myself as well, but not everyone wants to try it themself. And to get a good job you need to buy the good stuff, which based on what im seeing costs around 1K for us punters (havent done an extensive search). If I can get a couple of hundred off that price then why would you do it yourself. The time and risk would not be worth it.

As to how good, why would people do porches and Lambo's and other extremely high priced cars in it if it wasnt. Its not as though there is only one or 2 examples of this either, the web is littered with them.

You can buy enough 3M vinyl to do a mid sized car for about $600-$700 from the states. At least that's how much it was when my mate was thinking of doing it a year ago.

I'm extremely tempted to pick up a $600 roll off eBay and give it a go. I'll try it on the bonnet first and if I end up doing a terrible job I'll resell the rest of the roll :P

Would that BMW be the burnt orange? 'Cause if that's the same brand to what the gloss looks like, this is very tempting in the future... Still have the roof rust and dents though.

Question if anyone knows? Does this need to be applied over paint?? e.g. if I got any fibreglass body kit piece, would it need to be painted first to take the vinyl?

Intense Blue. I would do it in this, but then it would be too close to the colour I want to do my other one.
