Beats the $2700 I was quoted to have my roof and pillars resprayed 8O
Obviously went to the wrong panel beater lol

Its normally $300 to wrap a bonnet. Which is a far bigger area.

This ^ and the fact that it would take longer and the edges are trickier. And actually, it would use a lot more material if it was done in one piece due to the wastage you would get from the pillars. I would have said $500 wasnt a bad price for it. Not as cheap as you might find, but cheaper than some. Price also depends on Material. Gloss costs more as do some of the other finishes.

Might be tempted to get someone to wrap the roof and pillars and then do the rest myself. That way I won't have to buy such a big roll for the rest of the parts and won't end up costing much more.

But to get a good join at the pillars, the best way would be to use Knife less tape and overlap the upper and lower sheets and then cut them both with the one piece of knifeless.

Wouldn't it cause peeling if they are that close together and not going over an edge?

Only if you use a cheap vinyl. It would peel more if you overlap one sheet over the other. If you do it with the Knifeless tape, it will be a perfect seam and they will be flat.

FYI if anyone is looking for decent prices, I've had a shop around and these guys seem to be the best:

http://autovinylsolutions.com/

They are the ones that sell the ~$600 rolls on eBay, although from their site it's much cheaper. You can get a gloss burnt orange 40ft x 5ft roll for $460 delivered!

Trying to decide between:

http://autovinylsolutions.com/3M_1080/G ... Red?page=2
http://autovinylsolutions.com/3M_1080/G ... Red?page=2
http://autovinylsolutions.com/3M_1080/3 ... lic?page=2

What do you guys think? Will be upgrading to a facelift kit, I'm think Gloss Dark Red will look the best.

The 3M vinyls won't cover the roof and pillars in one piece.

I might use knifeless tape on it then. Do you know of a store that would sell alternative brands for a similar price?

Who's game? He did a pretty good job.......and I'm not reading the whole thread to figure out where he bought the lot for $120.

Gotta see if they got any colour close to our Passion Red....still the sexiest red I've seen IMO.

Well,at this stage mine will happen week after next. If you can wait until its finished, I can arrange a group buy at a very good price (he's willing to discount). Will also get a price on materials if you wish to have a shot at it yourself. Just have to assess the quality.....
