I think i've asked this before, but there's no differences between a GR manual gearbox + GR ECU to a GPX manual gearbox + GPX ECU is there? More importantly, are they both compatible for a GPvR?
I'm about to undergo a manual conversion (In Victoria), but the gearbox is a GR + GR Ecu; haven't started yet though...
If this is true (which i'll confirm very soon), then i wont be able to use the GR stuff and therefore will need to buy a GPX one which you currently have. Unfortunately i'm in Melbourne so there will be freight. I'll double check if GR definitely wont work first, because the shop is selling the lot for cheap. And cheap is good
Yes freight would be a pita. Could probably put it on a pallet for you. Or if you're not in a big hurry, my olds will probably be coming up to Sydney in the next couple of months, could get them to bring it back down for you. Where abouts in Melbourne are you?
I'm in Wantirna, but workshop is in Springvale. That would be pretty handy; I was planning to do it soon, but it's not like I can't wait.
I swear I've already asked the question of whether GR could fit beforehand as I was preparing for this project and I remember someone saying that it IS compatible although there are slightly different ratios but negligible in practice.
You've confused me with the ECU part though...I also remember in the same post someone mentioned that ECUs are pretty much the same. Gargh, if only there was a history search.
You can use an auto ECU in a manual but you can't use a manual ECU in an auto (If my memory is correct - which it probably isnt )
And GR and GPX ECUs are different. Can't be used in replacement of each other.

The gearboxes between a GR and a GPX are different too. They have slightly different ratios. Most GPX gearboxes also have a standard full slip diff, while GPvR gearboxes have an LSD so ultimately you wouldn't want to put a GPX gearbox into a GPvR (unless it had the option LSD) because you'd be going backwards. Unless you want to change out diffs and stuff.. just asked Bennoz and yes, you can upgrade diffs in the same gearbox. $$ though.
I fix cars.

That wont work unfortunately ^^^ The auto LSD housings are quite different from the manual ones. They use a much larger diametre final drive gear due to the different gear ratios in the slush box.
So I'm just trying to get my head around what you're trying to do, you have an auto GR & want to use this manual conversion kit in it yes?
