My Whip...

Post by SEEMYFTO »

So, I thought I'd set up my own page dedicated to my car.

I bought this black beauty off eBay for $1500. It had been listed previously but as the buyer didn't follow through (for $2300) it was relisted.

Due to not knowing what an fto was at the start of the year and never seeing one in person, I was taking a gamble, but thankfully I won cause I just love it!
This is what I know about the car...

It's a 94 GPX coupe
2 litre, 4 speed auto
It's got around 178,000 on the clock
New tyres on 18's
Interior is average but typical to its age
Clarion cd player which will be upgraded eventually
Body has a few dents and scratches
Front bar needed repairing
Paint...pretty good

All in all, I'm quite stoked...
Anyway, I'll add some pics...your feedback is welcome : )

This was the pic on the eBay add...

Yeah, so that's about it for now...I'm going to add some more pics of what I've done since buying the car in a following post

I decided to give fibreglassing a go, I mean, how hard could it be right?
So after 2 weeks of sanding, fibreglassing, bogging, more sanding and painting, this is how it turned out...

Nice work on the bumper! I don't know if I'd have the patience to DIY something like that.

Well once I started, there was no turning back! The pics don't really give a true indication on how bad the bumper was...it was literally snapped in half on the drivers side and had dodgy fix ups with silicone of all things. I must admit, there were times when I just wanted to give up and buy a new bumper but I persevered...the side skirts were in very ordinary condition too and I fixed them up too! Pretty proud of myself and the end results

Hahaha It's not perfect! I can see imperfections and there's still a few areas I'm not happy with but at the end of the day, I started a project and completed it

Thats a good outcome for someone who hasnt tried it before. Well done. That bar is rather special these days as they dont make Bozz in Australia anymore (the place that was doing them stopped). Fibreglassing is pretty easy to do really.Just requires a bit of patience. You did a good job with the paint too.
