SA: 2 in one day yo!

Post by c3rbera »

Today I went to pick up my car with some shiny new coilovers in it (many many thanks to Tim!) and saw the silver gpx with the crashed backside, at Magill. NATFTO yeah?

Then another at Hallett Cove, silver with a facelift bar dunno the spec. But yeah...again assuming it's none of us haha.

Eyes of a hawk. :thumright:

Tim's Turbo Terror lies patiently in sleep, ready to devour it's next victim.

Also, what type of BC coilovers did you get? $$/where from?

It would if it could.

BC BR (gold) from eBay for...1200 I think? I've heard good things about them. :)
The other option was XYZ's from Pedders for 1600 but god knows what they're like...I didn't look into D2's either.
I'm no expert on what the best coilovers are but I didn't need the most hardcore thing ever anyway, my car's not actually worth that much as it is haha.
Had to have this one though, manual transmission was the crucial bit for me.
They're too scarce...

They do seem to have pretty good reviews, was having a look just before. I wish I had more money to spend on my car, haha.

Let us know how they are!

Things like brakes and pads I can 'justify'

Spending over $3k on coils and wheels, not so much.

Yeah, I'm sticking to the small-but-more-frequent spending deal.

Some pads here, some rotors there, a strut brace coming.

Oh, and another engine. That only cost me $625 though!

Should see if Taz has got those gaskets from Amayama yet...

Well right now one wheel scrapes sometimes but the current setup is a bit all over the place. I'll have them set properly next couple of days, so Saturday will be the grand test. Feels promising just from driving it home, maybe it's my imagination but I could swear the power goes down better.

I bought it from a member here, Taz. Has 150,000kms on it (figured it was cheaper to buy another engine than do a 200k service on the one I have now!)

He's doing a 4Gxx (I forget which) conversion on his project car, so he put his 6A12 up for sale. And I bought it. THE END.

Well, not really. When it arrives at some time I'll beg Tim to put it in for me, and I will pay him money and love him forever.

ed: also, is this the ebay seller? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BC-Racing-BR ... a5b&_uhb=1

Ahh...damn that's good. Just wondering cause I mean I've passed 200 but in the future it's nice to know it wouldn't cost half the car to do an engine swap if mine isn't worth fixing anymore.

Haha yeah the Tim love, I think it's a universal thing you know?

And yep, they're the ones and that's the shop. Didn't have any issues. :)

Yeah, for buying car parts it was actually quite a reasonable decision to make, haha. And it means I have a spare engine too. Haven't decided quite what I'll do with it beyond keeping it in the garage with my other car parts. Maybe one day I'll find a way to drop it a 323 Protege like I had before the FTO.

Might keep those coils in mind though. Shame how they're so much more expensive than struts/springs though.

They're even worse over here, once installed you have to get them certified, that's another ~$600 :(
