Supercheap has a Pioneer 2ch amp and 1200w 12inch sub in a box combo at $199. Are they any good? Cheapest online price from Ryda for both of them is $260 plus shipping.

It sounds good? Think the sub will fit behind the rear strut bar?

Not behind as is, it's a little bit thicker. I'm planning on cutting the box out a little to allow the bar to run through it depending on the internals positioning.

Big bass, decent price.

Changing the size of the box will mess with the tuning.

Hmmm, any other way to mount it behind the bar Rob?

Also, since my head unit's dvd player got fucked, am playing music via Bluetooth streaming from phone. Right now have an option to either pick up this combo or buy another Eonon headunit. Am preferring the sub and amp combo over the head unit, what do you guys suggest?

 They're still set low. :cheeky:

First thing to do would be get the actual dimensions of the sub itself without the box to see if it can be fit behind the bar.

Then you would have to make a new box. Either sealed (easier option) or ported (harder to do, needs to be larger and you need to measure it out so it is tuned to the right frequency)

But, you don't know what that specific sub will sound like in a sealed enclosure.

Easiest option would be to buy a sub by itself and build an enclosure for it.

You will not get a standard 10" or 12" sub behind the bar though, needs to be a slim one.

My 8" subs barely fit inside the box that I made with about a cm clearance behind them.

So if you do decide to go with a sub and build a box you have a choice of 8" subs, or slim 10" or 12" subs.

My Alpine Type R 8" subs cost me $110 each.

When building a box you also have to find out the specs of the sub and what amount of volume it performs best in and create a box with that volume.

An even easier option is to place the sub in front of the brace.

It will still thump, it just won't sound as good.

Hmmm.... guess can't visit Coles and Safeway often now... :P

So...headunit now..or the sub and amp now ?

Btw, is this sub-amp combo even a good deal or can I get Kicker/Clarion around the same price online? Just want a single sub... since everyone keeps telling me the music will sound better with the amp and the sub....not even sure if it will :|

I only listen to classic rock.... :\

Those are expensive. More than the $199 am willing to spend on an amp and sub package. :|

Have been checking tons of reviews and video demos of the sub and amp....it sounds nice and tight. Think it will be fine for rock...don't need to go for a 10inch :)

Now the dilemma of buying this combo first or the head unit.... :|
