I found RACV pretty good. They insured my FTO in 5 mins. Not many insurance companies will insure imports. I got a pretty good deal from them. Worth a try! :D

How much was your insurance? And did you try JustCarInsurance?

Mine was $1200 comprehensive with no claims discount protection, windcreen cover etc. Plus RACV break down cover too.

JCI quoted me $1100 but with no windscreen cover or road side assist.

Shannons wouldn't quote me as they didn't "have proof that I was a motoring enthusiast!"

Hmm, I'm with JCI at the moment, maybe I'll check out RACV when my year ends...

Is RACV and RACQ the same?

Hmm.. With Shannons, I said I was part of a club. FTO Australia. I have all my vehicles (and bike) through them.

There are also places like LSV (Lumley Special Vehicles) which are quite good..

Yep same. Told them I am an active member of car clubs and gave them club names. All my vehicles are insured through them.

I think I'll mention the FTO club if that's the case. Although I wasn't a member at the time...

the roadside portion of their business is the same, still completely different organisations. i.e. if you have RACQ roadside assistance and breakdown in Melbourne, you call RACQ, but RACV will come out.

The insurance side is completely different. And in case you were wondering, RACQ won't insure a FTO.

They still honor RACV's membership status though. We shifted our membership status of RACV (card) to RACQ when we moved to QLD. We have been a member with them since 2003.

I want to get another quote from JCI. When it asks me what mod's/non-standard items I have on the car, do I literally list everything that my car has? Example; Electric windows, sport seats, air con, exhaust etc etc???

What added mods did you add with JCI bjk?

I think their focus is on anything non-standard (though don't quote me on that). When I bought the car it was pretty well stock, apart from the lowering springs and the front strut brace, so I put those in. Also the immobiliser (which they require for it to be comprehensively insured I might add).

Cheers, I'll give them a shout tomorrow :)
