ohaiguise

Post by corvandus »

Alright lads?
Bought my GPX a few months ago, got directed here by Dwayne after buying replacement stereo surround and floor console.
Absolutely adoring Esther, she's a dream to drive.
I have a couple of things to work on with her, and any insights or short cuts would be lovely.
Already spent this weekend rewiring the sound system and the like.
There's a few rust spots on the roof which I understand is common, and small dent near the fuel cap easily dealt with.
Two of the gaskets has a small leak which is being done this week.
Also need to replace the stepper motor.
After that, it's all cosmetics. I'm keen to get leather seats done, and I'm thinking about painting/dying the door trim and stereo surround.
I'm also considering a full body carbon wrap or a respray.
I haven't even begun to gather estimates on the interior work and paint/wrap jobs. If anyone has rough estimates, throw them at me.

Oh and as to the stepper. Heres an example. You may find them locally as well. Failing that, I can get genuine ones, but would take a couple of weeks.

Pics when she's out of the shed, right now the interior is in pieces and parts all over the garage.
I'm about 45 minutes east of Perth, up in Gidgegannup.
I'm not positive it's just a faulty stepper motor quite yet.
It's only stalling when cold, for maybe 5 minutes I'll have to manually hold the revs at 1k. After that, there's no issue at all.
But thanks for the link mate, I'll likely need one.
I'm just glad once the gaskets and the stepper motor are sorted, everything else to deal with is purely cosmetic ^_^
I'm thinking about fabricating a tablet dock to fit under the head unit, and getting some leather and retrimming the doors. Going with a black and white clean look.
I'll start a thread once the cosmetics start to get underway and keep you all updated.
      Be lucky eh!

      Something like this?
Or actually putting a dock nearer the ash tray?

Kind of like that, yeah. But I don't want to remove the head unit, so I'd build an actual dock-like contraption to sit in the tray under the head unit.
Not in the ash tray, just in the little tray directly under the head unit.
I want to be able to remove the tablet easy enough. It won't look that clean, because I'll use the 3.5mm to plug into the aux input on the stereo, and the cigar lighter to charge it.
I really don't like the idea of a windscreen mount or a free moving floor mount.
Although that looks really really clean. That's using the Dashboard app, yeah?

Yeah, everything I've seen is overseas and charging huge amounts for shipping.
Any estimate on the cost for one from you? I'd rather line your pockets than a stranger.
