Thinking of selling/trading the Vectra and buying Sue a Mitsubishi 380 DB VR-X
They are available in a series I, II and III

I reckon neither, and get an EVO.

Are there any major differences between the two?

From what I can find the only diff is the rear wing/boot and the front grill inserts.

Only the VRX or GT come with the little wing formed onto the boot with matching tail lights. Only the series 2/3 VRX come with the raised wing. Only the GT comes with leather seats.
SX, VRX and GT have upgraded sport-tuned suspension, factory strut brace, 6 disk stereo, colour multi function screen, leather steering wheel and 17" alloys.
They all have the same engine.
There aren't too many with only 60k on the clock either.

Yes....and what she likes the most I suppose.

I know we are saving for a house but I think the Vectra is going to need a lot of engine work soon, it's 40k past timing belt and the engine is starting to tick on start up, it is also running very rich and the transmission is starting to go to neutral while stopped and jumping into gear at take-off, as well as needing $1000 worth of paint work.
...and ICBF doing it all, no interest in this engine bay anymoar.

We would be able to buy the Mitsubishi 380 VR-X for cash with a bit of cash back for a trade, and buy a house next year.
Our savings would be back up to where they are now, sooner than 6 months.

Anybody know much about the Mitsubishi 380 and 6G75 engine?

It looks to be a similar setout engine bay as the FTO.

I'm pretty sure Tim helped out with a 380 engine swap at one stage, might have been late last year? He might be the person to talk to

I think we have found the one we are going to buy.
We are driving down to Adelaide tomorrow to have a look with cash on hand to purchase if we like it.
It has moar km's than the other ones, but it has been owned by one owner since new. It's an older guy with his own business in Adelaide CBD.
It has a tow bar as he towed a small trailer to help out the Lions Club on the weekends.
It has 125k and it has had it's major service ($1800 ), including plugs, belt, water pump etc...he will be showing me all service receipts.

Went and looked at the 380 today in Adelaide.
Bloody headlights are peeling and need polishing Typical Mitsubishi
Had a good look over it, mechanicaly great, few dents/scratches, gear stick and surround was stuffed.
Owner said on the phone he gave it a $1800 100k service
I asked again when I was there "did you have the water pump, plugs and transmission done at the same time as the timing belt"
He said "yes"
Showed me his service receipts 10min later, only had receipt fot the timing belt $480
I asked again "did you have the water pump, plugs and transmission done at the same time as the timing belt"
This time he said "no, only had the timing belt done"
F**kn dick*ead
Him and his wife were very rude, he sat in the backseat when we took it for a test drive.
Over the phone asking price was $7800, I said "I would like to make you an offer"
He said "I will tell you now buddy I am not taking anything less than $7800"
I said "Thanks for your time, but we are not interested"
My young boy Steven got back into the Vectra with a tear in his eyes, he was keen for a new car

Youll find one Phil. And the seller will be more deserving.

We stopped outside the closed car yard that has the $11990 Blue one, it looks really nice. Unsure if we want to spend the extra yet though.
Paint is metalic; Blue in the sun, Purple in the shade.
Sue loved it

He would have taken an offer of $7000
It was a disusting mess of dirt, dents, scratches, bald tyres, thick black brake dust covered rims, stuffed headlights, stained seats etc.
Looked like it had never been serviced.
We had to wait a bit for them to turn up.
Opened the bonnet, opened the oil cap and heaps of exhaust gas/smoke came out of the oil fill port and it stunk.
We didn't even bother going for a drive.

YEAH done a swap out and heap of work on one, basically a magna similar layout to fto with few diffs like electronic throttle etc, good car though, decent amount of pull too, easy to work on

I have always liked the 380, but i only like the ones with the ghetto boss tail lights (Like that blue one).

IIRC. There is a rare supercharged model out there too but i think they were very limited.

Either way i think you's will be happy! I looked at these when looking for my FTO!

We are going to Adelaide tomorrow to have a look at another car to buy.
This time it's not a Mitsubishi 380.
So, if we buy it we can all have another guess my new car game.

Eh, those games are all so old hat now. You need a new spin on it to make it more interesting!
