Engine Swap

Post by 95Xena »

As the title says, I'm thinking of an engine swap. Nothing radical, just swapping my 1995 GR and 1994 GPX.

What are the things I need to be aware of?

Non mivec and mivec engines have different ECUs and wiring looms.

Isn't difficult to swap them, although thats as far as I have got yet. Still not up to the bit where I have to plug it all in and hope it doesn't go kaboom.

Although it's a bit of a pain in the ass to fit the loom through the firewall (not a euphemism) had to get Vectose to help me.
I fix cars.

I figured it would be fairly simple :D Just wanted to get some facts if I needed them before I gave the cars to the mechanic. No way I'm doing it

Yeah, just loom and ECU was far as I know..

The only part of the loom that you need to change from what I'm aware is the part the goes from the ECU through the firewall.

There's potential for a thread about anything on FTO Australia

Because it will be cheaper to swap out engines than do all the things to the GPX that I have got on the GR already.

And because I can so :P
