I bought a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 Series 2 (Facelift) on the weekend for Sue.
73000 km
5 speed auto/tip, AYC (Active Yaw Control), ABS, 2 airbags, climate control (same one as the FTO)
Metalic pearl white
Black/red seats
Black dash
Factory carbon fibre center console
Factory stainless door step covers x 4
Factory floor mats all round
JDM flare
Fully stock
Auto
Talked the seller down to $7000 cash

It has a Pioneer 2 din touch screen digital "App Radio" installed which we will be changing to a 2 din DVD/GPS.
App Radio will be up for grabs or swaps.
It also came with a JDM 2 din touch screen/GPS/TV (I was told the GPS is only for Japan), the aerials on the back window belong to the JDM unit.
Remove or leave the aerials?

I Have a list of things to do but for now I will just post up some pics...
OK many pics

Thanks for all the comments :D
It is an awesome car, in great condition too.
Although I do have to do a few repairs and a service.
I will post up a list when I get a chance to look it over properly...I have been working 12-13 hour days, I am on-call all weekend 24/7. Harvest time is bloody busy.

Thanks, I believe it does a bit ;) I need to do a bit moar driving to come to a full conclusion.

Thanks. As said above, I need to find some time to spend with it, then maybe a review ;)

Thanks, I did a bit of homework before I purchased. Parts are a similar cost to FTO parts. I should be able to do any work on it myself.
Some owners get their transmisions strenghtened at an auto shop and pay $1500, I can do the same upgrade for $100 plus 1 weekend.

Thanks, I find the suspension to be quite tight. Maybe the ones you drove had rooted shocks ;)

Nah, this one is staying stock.

Get the wave spring in the gearbox dealt with before it costs you a packet. Mine broke and got sucked through the innards of the gearbox and caused a tear in the fabric of the universe (common problem). Cost me 4.5K for a gearbox rebuild.

Mine was a stock Legnum. My FTO out cornered it and out accelerated it even though it is a twin turbo with all the fancy suspension gear on it. Nice family car, but doesnt have the feel of the FTO in the handling dept IMO. Just didnt put a smile on my face like the FTO does. Do like the look of the galant and Legnum though. And more comfortable than the FTO.

Overall reckon youll like it. I thought it was a nice family wagon, but it really didnt suit the dirt I had to take it on (wheel alignment every 6 weeks), so wasnt the right option for me.

Thanks Dwayne, I have already read up on the tranny spring, have a list of required parts and it is high on the list. I just want to work out other things I need too so I can do a mass order through Aya-mumma.

The Galant isn't being driven around yet as I want to do all repairs, before we sell the Vectra.
It will be a nicer car than the Vectra and easier for me to work on and source parts for.

Yep, not meaning to be negative as they are a nice car for what they are (better than your average family mobile -and a lot faster/more nimble). For their weight and dimensions they do pretty well in the handling department, and in stock form they are a very smooth drive. Great for long trips which will suit you based on where you are located.
