would anyone happen to know if it been done or possible? if so what are the addition costs of dropping in a k20 engine. is it compatible? and worth it?

It is possible and it has been done (kind of).

There is a Mirage that has a functional K20A conversion done to it, and seeing as the engine bays are the same it would also transfer to an FTO.
