WTB: Driver's control arm

Post by JohanGPX »

As title says, I'm in need of a front driver's side control arm as the joint at the end of mine is completely screwed and Dwayne has told me they can't be changed and I'm better off getting a whole new arm.

Just so everyone knows what I'm talking about

I don't have a press and don't really feel like paying a mechanic $100 to do it, so back to square one - anyone selling a driver's front control arm with good condition bushings and stiff ball joint?

Have you asked around..how much they will charge you? Local mechanic told me to drop them off along with the arms, and pick it up next day, he will press them in when he is free, $50 for trailing arm bushes, engine mount side bushes, control arm ball joints.

Mine's usually around $20 for a pair of bushing to be pressed...
or you could use a vice...

Can someone please verify whether the mechanic I found is a retard or not? - he banged it with a hammer 3 times and said 'the ball joint and control arm are one piece and the ball joint can't be changed, you have to buy a whole new arm'

 He is a retard. I have changed the ball joints on 4 arms and I would be surprised if you could get it out with a hammer. Needs to be pressed out/in.

He had a press sitting right there but just hit it, took the boot off and said there's no lock ring so it's one piece. I'll try find another mechanic that's not retarded
