Nah, usually the thought "what a wanker" comes to mind. Everyone deals differently.

That goes on in this very forum as well. Dare to profess a fondness for anything other than stock and you have no taste. Or the minute someone new asks about bodykits or rims, they get steered towards the same thing everyone else has. Can't like Veilside, can't like chrome rims, have to like facelift, has to be stock, have to like spoked rims, etc.
For some reason, the majority of car enthusiasts - especially in this forum - seem to want their cars to look the same as everyone else's. I don't get that line of thinking.

As for the whole hating on FTO's, I've gotten that too. Mostly the 'it's a girls car', which fucks with my mind. I had a Daihatsu Sirion before that (tiny little 3 cycl champagne coloured thing) and no-one ever called that a girl's car 8O How does that make sense?

Thats true 8O . For my part in that I apologise. Veilside isnt to my taste, but if it works for you, I can respect that ;)

If something is not to your taste you just say "It looks good on your car"

But in my opinion Veilside makes the car look older than other kits.

Well, thats the same reason I will never own a Skyline..

Love them. Absolutely awesome cars in their own right... but I don't want to be associated with the community behind them.

Why? Majority of people that own them are just douche bags and they're everywhere. I like FTOs because they're a bit different and not all that common.

Anyone can just slap on a few grand's worth of bolt on mods to a riceline and make 400 horsepower. Where's the fun in that?

Why do you care what anyone else thinks?

I would never let anyone else's opinion stop me from having/doing what I love. If I did I sure wouldn't be covered in tattoo's & piercings, and driving an FTO in my 40's

And Dwayne, I wasn't aiming that at anyone in particular :D
I certainly respect the need to have different opinions (I have plenty of them lol), I just don't respect the need to tell people, consistently, their taste is wrong if they don't like what the 'majority' like.

It isn't necessarily other people's opinions, it's more the fact that I dont like the community behind them.

I think you'll find that most of that community has died out now. I recently purchased an R34 GT-T and have been to a few meets, the community seems fairly similar to the FTO group. The true enthusiasts are usually friendly, so that shouldn't put you off.
