Change of plan, starting Monday

I think my new boss wants to send me to 'Mazda School' to do my training through their program rather than AGT. Although AGT is still technically my employer.

I'm getting more and more excited to start work now :cyclopsani:

Had my first day today

Serviced about 6 cars with oil, oil filter, tyre pressure, etc.

Did a fuel filter on a BT-50.

Cleaned up front disc and rear drum brakes on a Mazda2.

Finished clutch replacement (just putting stuff back together) on a CX-7 or something (probably should know lol)

Repaired a punctured tyre (have not missed doing that, fkn sh*t job.. )

Everyone there is real nice, even the managers and stuff. My hours are 7:30am to 3:30pm and anything after 3:30 I get overtime

We have a few red bull company cars that we service or something, so some red bull girls came around and gave us free red bull :hey:

Started doing a transfer case on a CX-9 today. In about 30 mins we got the car on the hoist, wheels off, drained fluid, disconnected some lines, exhaust, and dropped out the subframe so its pretty much ready to go now... the tradie that is teaching me is so quick at everything.. very different to working at home or even at my old garage. We do services in about 30 minutes, sometimes even less. Thats tyre pressures, drain oil, replace filter, fill oil, wheels off to inspect brakes, fill all fluids if needed, rotate tyres if needed, clean out air filter.

I feel like I work for an F1 pit crew

Everyone at work is real nice, even all my bosses are always mucking around being silly buggers.

We also replaced a whole door lock mechanism complete with cables running to lock and both handles and stuff today.

I have never seen such an efficiently ran business 8O

They goto make money and there was 2 guys on the job.

I did minor services in 30min at council, it just comes down to the order you do things.

Put car on hoist, fill out log book, sticker on windscreen, check all lights/horn/wipers/washers/handbrake, get out, remove oil cap and raise hoist, drain oil, while oil is draining check all underside of vehicle with torch, change oil filter if underneath, sump plug in, hoist down half way, remove wheels, check brakes, rotate tyres, wheels on, check tyre pressures, lower car, change oil filter if on top, fill with oil, check and top up other fluids, check engine bay/belts, close bonnet, test drive.

Guess you are right, but I have lost all faith in going to a mechanic for small jobs now. Got ripped off twice, third case could have become very serious. In my eyes, they are bunch of lying thieves.
Sorry Dan, just my personal rant. Ignore me :)

Yeah sidds you just haven't found a decent bloke. And most places have a minimum labor charge too.

And yes it comes down to how organised you are. Because we only do Mazda, we just leave the 21mm impact socket on therrattle gun, have 17mm spanner ready for sump, oil filter tool ready to go etc. We only use a few tools and just leave themout, whereas at another place you'd be using dIifferent stuff for different cars.

When we are handed a job card we are also handed all the filters and parts. No waiting for a place like precision to deliver them.
