Rear arms

Post by FTOwnage »

Is there a special tool/technique to use when getting these bushes out?

My mechanic could not remove them with his 15t press.

My car is sitting in the middle of my dad's factory and cannot move w/o these being done. They commence work again on Monday :/

Sorry about my crap pictures

Tried burning them

The inner tube expands in the centre like a swivel.

Have you cut them before? You cant fit a blade down the sides of them.

This. Drill all round them & bash the centre steel tube out, then hacksaw through one side of the shell. Ive got a pneumatic hacksaw, wips through them in a minute. Once you're through one side of the shell, they'll almost fall out... with a few hammer taps.

Thanks!

How easy did the centre tube bash out for you?

I have a 15t press and got them out. It's a joke he couldn't do it as they aren't held in but much. I even got one out with a hammer! Tell him to shove something inside the arm to stop the arm from flexing while pressing them out. Don't listen to Bennoz in terms of super pro replacements as they don't fit :) It's $70 for all 4 from Mitsubishi

Thanks for the advice guys, just took them to Pedders.

Told them what you guys told me and they had the old ones out and new ones pressed in. Took them about 15mins.

Just got to change the PS/AC belts and I'm done.

Thought so the mechanic prob either did not have a press, forgot or could not be stuffed. How much did peddlers charge? 5 bucks a pop?

The rubber is just a thin dust cover. The bearing behind it is hardened steel.
