Why are you certain? It'd run like sh*t if it was a headgasket and you would know if it was

Oil in the coolant. Mechanic reckons so too. Not sure if I wanna pay the 350 to check it, only to find its fine. Not too sure what else it could be

Best option would be sourcing a new engine in better/equal (before blowing gasket) condition and swapping.

Too much time and hassle involved in fixing head gasket. Just get a new donk.
I fix cars.

I was quoted cheaper to do head gasket as opposed to engine swap.

Oil in coolant doesn't always mean head gasket! Could also be your trans cooler leaking?

Are you talking about a milkshake under the cap or just an oily film? There are products that seal gaskets up. Worth a try before you go fix it.

Go somewhere else if he wants $350! My workshop won't even charge to determine the cause usually. But head gaskets are sometimes a bit of a hit and miss sometimes.

Payaya why don't you do it for him? Pretty sure he's from Melb, you have a workshop and have experience with FTOs.......and you'd probably charge an honest price unlike other mechanics.

Just saw your original post. Sorry not on here much anymore! If you overheated on the freeway it won't be a thermo issue, as a car at freeway speeds, thermos do sh*t f**k all. Just like race cars have no thermos.

I'm leaning towards a blocked radiator.
