Did you have idle surge?

Maybe? I have surge but it's only on cold idle when the car first fires up. After maybe 40-50 seconds it's gone. Also cold idle is a bit odd, I've set it to idle at 1200rpm but always wants to idle at 1000rpm instead. After the car is warm it's gone completely no surging and idles perfectly at the set RPM.

New Garret G25-550 turbo has been ordered. All new timing kit and all seals have been ordered too.

Started redoing the fuel system while waiting for parts from England to come. Got new Subaru Sti 550cc pink injectors (I know I don't need that much but that's what I got and for a decent price for new stuff). Got a new fuel pump to keep up with turbo goodness. Through work, I got a Deatschwerks DW300 pump for a good discount. Its a DW300 for an Evo 8/9 which is the same through Evo 4-9. It's also a direct fit for an FTO.

Now, of course, the installation didn't go as planned. Using line wrenches/heat/shock I couldn't get the flare nut off the sender unit. So I just ended up wrecking the fitting and cutting it off.

Through work I got it sent off to a coupler place near me to have AN fittings welded on and a braided hose made up. Got this back looks great even though no one is going to see it.

Here is a comparison of the stock pump to the new one. It was a direct fit with no modifications required.

And here it is all fitted up.

For a quick review. The pump makes a funny noise after its primed, gotta check whether it's sitting in the rubber isolators correctly. During operation its quiet and I can't hear it running, the car runs significantly smoother now and doesn't lean out around the top end and cause a plume of black smoke out the exhaust. Overall would definitely recommend if your line comes off like it should as its a quick and easy replacement. Fuel economy is actually slightly better now as well from what I would assume would be caused by the correct fuel pressure being reached which I assumed the 23-year-old pump could no longer do.

Health and safety manual states the angle grinder is the safest tool to use in and around the fuel tank

I used brake line spanners I meant hahaha. It was stuck regardless of what I did. Guy at the shop said it was common of Mitsubishi's of this era. I used metal snips to cut it hahahaha

I fucked it because my 14mm let go off the flare before my 19mm and rounded the 14mm and twisted the line. Tada! Magic!

When I did Billy's I had to hold the pump side with vice grips, cut my knuckle on the lip when it let go.

Also facelift don't have this problem. They have a quick release clip type fitting.
