Hey guys, new kid on the block -Story of my FTO purchase.

What's goin on FTO boys n' gals!

I bought myself a '95 GPX FTO, sometime in the middle of last year. And every second has just been amazing.

I bought it from Hobart/Tasmania, made the trip down from Launceston to see one that was advertised... It turned out to be an absolute DUD, nothing like the guy described on the phone.. rust, dodgy suspension and it just felt broken and unsafe - which, this all made me a little bit pissy as you might imagine. Alas... I didnt buy it.

I left in my '88 Cressida, disappointed as I was so keen to own one of these cars! - BUT, as I drove down the road, at the end of the street (the very same street in fact, not even 10 seconds away), I saw another FTO! ... And it had a "FOR SALE" sign on it. I was like... "no way.."

Anyway, it was parked inside an Aurora owned building... naturally.. I drove straight in to check it out, looked pretty mint so I gave the number a call.

She came out, I took it for a test drive, though it had around 175,000 on the clock (other had only just 100,000 i think) it drove like a DREAM, the tiptronic transmission was smooth, everything felt right.
Moments later, I got notification that my funds were all set, so I grabbed the cash... and BAM! my first FTO <3

I'd love if someone could give me any information on the car if they recognise it or the plates, because since then I've found a lot wrong with it that they said was flawless (such is the way of private-sales, right? haha), I guess it'd be boring if everything was perfect, right?

Anyway, I've spent about $1500 on it, a few things i couldnt get in Australia without too much digging so got parts sent in from Japan which made a difference in price - but apart from that tiny bit of drama, im wrapped in the car!

Though I'm from Tassie, I'm living/driving it in west-Sydney at the moment. It made the drive from Tassie(Via Spirit of Tasmania), in one solid drive, brilliantly ;)

So
, look forward to possibly getting to know some of you and your cars!.

Welcome aboard ;) Did you just find the forum,or have you been hanging around in the background for a while? There are a few people in the club that can help you with parts and others that can help diagnose problems.

Thanks for the welcoming party, all! Just shows how good the enthusiast scene is these days ;)
I'm liking all the suggestions too, but you know how it goes - there's always more parts than money :p Look forward to getting some of it done. 8)

I've got a few minutes, so I thought I may as well respond to all of you.

Cheers mate, yeah factory sunroof is a big plus for me ;)

Yeah, its pretty straight. No work or "proper" servicing had actually been done to it in years, so I needed a whole lot of the basics - entire new set of gaskets, timing belt, water pump(was the hardest thing to get in short notice), oil filter, plugs and a few other things that just added up over time.

Yes, sir! I do like the look of the lancer rims on the FTO, but I'm looking at some nice dark 19's to compliment the white paint.

And as for low, that'll be next on the list - haven't decided what route I want to go with that yet.

Pretty much found the forum a few weeks into having the car, so yeah - I guess I've been hiding in the shadows a bit :p

Yeah, now that I've been cruising the scene a bit, I've found heaps of availability in parts that I just didnt have the time to search for when I needed them. ;) I've seen the clear side indicators, they look mint - makes it look a little more grown up 8)

Yeah, it seems that way - the entire 200km return journey from Hobart to Launceston was just all smiles as you might imagine

Welcome mate. Looks clean.

As you may have guessed, Veilside is not very popular around here.

Have a look at the bodykit designed by Dwayne (Dstocks)..

It suits the car a hell of a lot more and makes the car look modern, and not over the top.

It looks awesome in white. Have a look at Dstock's "members rides" section from before the vinyl wrapping.. If i had a white FTO that is exactly how I would have done it..

Or just put no kit and lower it with some nice wheels? Keep it OEM+
