Is it tappet sound or smthing else??

please help.
I have a fto gr. it has a very annoying sound when i start the engine. Its really bad when the engine is cold. But once the engine is hot it goes down. Sometimes it disappears but again comes back. Is it tappet or somthing else???

is it a tapping noise? if so it's most likely the tappets.

If its an explosion sound then it could be grenades.
Can't really tell until you tell us what kind of noise...

I think you can't adjust GR tappets, and have to replace them. Meek is a good source of these parts. Do a search and find out if I am correct... But pretty sure GPX is adjustable and GR is not.
They are going to cost a bit to replace. Pretty expensive part, and very labour intense job ...

GRs can't be adjusted. Would be quite expensive to do if you pay someone, probably $800+ ish worth of parts and labor.

We still aren't 100% sure it is tappets, could be something else. Can you describe what it sounds like or post up a sound clip?

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck ... Chances are .. It's a duck ...
But yeah, could be many things, but mostly sounds like it would be tappets knowing these cars...

Money is on tappets. Funnily enough I'm doing them at Mazda school training.today.
Seems like tappets.

Yeah, I'd say it's most likely tappets as well. But there's still the chance it might not be. I would wanna know for certain before shelling out hundreds for new tappets.
