Petrol Stains

Previous owner(s) of my FTO left the paint in pretty dodgy condition. No rust or anything and nothing beyond the clear coat, but it has a few chips on the bumper and a weird petrol stain under the fuel door (where it looks like they didn't wipe petrol off and it dried staining the paint).
I'm not entirely sure if there is a DIY option available. Some sources said to get a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and then buff it over with polish and gloss. Another source said that you can sand it down and buff/polish it again. Question is, do any of those methods sound viable and if not.. would asking a smash repairer for touch up paint be worth it (the paint isn't custom; just want to know if it would still be noticeable and not blended like new)?
