It's quite cool, but it was just a temporary thing, they made it out of a car they're about to scrap.
I believe they just wanted a convertible FTO for a meet.

This one was rotten and had a quote of £5k to repair it, so the guy cut the roof off and kept the car until the MOT expired. He's just about sold all the nice parts now. Structurally it's not in a good way, but it doesn't look bad.

Damn that looks good, would you lose a lot of rigidity with no roof though?

Yep, correct. Especially considering the FTO wasn't really designed for it.

Even in cars with shells designed to be convertibles from factory there is often a big difference. Apparently in things like the Nissan 350/370 convertibles are very different to standard roofed versions. Can only imagine the difference in a car not designed to handle it.

Haha bullshit I've cut a roof off an fto before and it's not that structural! The whole middle of it is like 2mm thick

It had a rotten chassis, so before scrapping it they decided to have some fun and cut the roof off for the weekend, then after that they just scrapped it straight away.
