i had it softened and now i don't like the ride at all...
it felt better when it was bumpy to high hell than it does now...

Where are you located?

I had mine recently clear roadworthy with Tein Super GT Wagon coilovers. The guy doing the roadworthy knows his sh*t and works on V8 supercars, and said the deal is the suspension needs to be quality gear and similar design to stock for it to pass. For example, if your car previously had separate locations for the spring and the shock (i.e. like a Commodore rear end) it won't pass roadworthy.
Adjustable spring seats are not within ADR's so they shouldn't. Good to see him using logic rather than ticking boxes
I found this Vic Roads newsletter for testers which confirms what my tester said:
https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/~/m...usiness and industry/testingtimesissue27.ashx
Quoting:
Most McPherson strut systems are not adjustable so another common modification is the fitting of alternative McPherson strut systems that are adjustable for ride height as can be seen in the installation shown below on an early model Commodore. This does not require a VASS approval certificate as the structural design remains unaltered.
The newsletter considers McPherson struts as a form of coilover.
Mine was complied for Australian roads with them fitted so. I would assume that to be the hardest to pass?

Yup, $550 to get them certed... It's the main reason I haven't done it yet.
But yes as Daniel said you can remove the coilovers and put the stock suspension back in for the WoF and then put the coilovers back in afterwards.
It's just a pain having to do that every 6 months

You realise if you just took the adjustment knobs off the top and painted them black they wouldn't notice

Nah, they'd 100% notice in a WoF, as they take the car off the ground for it, so they'd see from beneath.
