Planning an epic trip, Hedland to Victoria

After being up in Port Hedland for just over a year we've decided to make a move and quite a big one as we're not going back to Perth, heading for the hills in Victoria somewhere in/nr the Dandenong ranges.

Planning on transporting the FTO and driving the Landrover disco, at the moment the proposed route is as follows:
PH to Broome
Broome to Halls Creek
Halls Creek to Alice Springs on the Tanami road (which is supposed to be a bit of a bugger)
Stop off to see Uluru and surrounding area for a couple of days - although it's not as close to Alice as I thought and we have to board the dogs at kennels in Alice and then go back for them!
Port Augusta
Adelaide and finally onto Melbourne.
About 8 days I reckon and a total distance of around 5138 km's.

Will be good to be nearer the rest of Australia (no offence intended to you WA'ers out there)

When's the next bonfire?

Shame that your transporting the FTO, would love to see it when you make it to Adelaide. Though I guess the route would probably be pretty rough on it.

That Tanami road between Halls creek and Alice (1050km's) is just a dirt road for much of it although it does get used a fair bit.
Not a lot to see with the FTO yet mate anyway as it's not finished, still designing the charge cooler / intake plenum at the moment.

Looking forward to the simple stuff like being able to order a Dominos Pizza, buy beer on a Sunday, and not wait weeks for stuff to arrive in the post.
Really looking forward to exploring the other bits of Austraya too, never been over east before.

Change of plans, not so much of an epic road trip anymore, i've wussed out and decided to fly instead as there just aren't that many places to stop on the way from WA that allow dogs unless you have your own caravan.
Will now be arriving in Melbourne on the 29th October, dropped the Landrover off this morning so that it has a good chance of getting there not long after us and the FTO will be pretty much the last thing to go.
For anyone who knows Vic (and might be the remote bit interested) we're staying at a cottage in Emerald for 8 nights so we can get a feel for the Dandenong ranges and then staying 2 weeks not too far from Mornington, after that we're camping by the roadside unless we can find a longer term rental that will allow dogs in that time or somewhere else short term. (we've tried loads of options and drawn a blank even caravan parks with cabins, even those that say pet friendly really aren't if your dog is over 10 kilos)
