Throttle/idling issues

Post by snowspot »

Hi all,
Have been searching the forum for some answers to my issues, but not to sure what my problem is.
I think it might be the stepper motor as many seem to have similar issues to mine but searching more,
I think it might be tps problems as well.

Ok so car is 1995 fto gpx mivec auto
When cold or warm in park the idle is at 2000rpm.
If I shift into drive idle immediately drops to about 700-800
When driving around under acceleration car performs normal.
Eg revs ok and changes up gears fine.
But if you release accelerator or brake it seems to not change down gears as quickly as it should and the revs
Fluctuate between about 800 to 2000 rpm car seems to be hunting
And car surges as you slow down like it wants to speed up.
If you accelerate or tap throttle it seems to drop revs and function ok. For short time

I will attempt to get pics or video up ASAP
Any insight would be most welcomed
Thanks
Glen

ok i had stepper out and connected and cycled car on then off and stepper just clicked and vibrated slightly really fast.
does this seem normal operation of stepper ? i thought plunger was supposed to go in and out a bit.

un sure how to clean stepper , do i take the 3 screws out and dissasemble it ? any tips on cleaning of stepper ?
also there seems to be two positions to bolt the stepper two, does it matter which bolt holes it is bolted on with ?

thanks

When my stepper went I tried to clean it and re-use it but I didn't have any luck.
I just purchased a used replacement.

You should put it back into the bolt holes it came from.

+1, chuck a new one in.

I can't remember which holes they go in.. if you remind me I will go and check tomorrow afternoon after I get home from WTAC.
I fix cars.
