Anyone have Naca ducts fitted?

Post by Rob Furniss »

Thinking about modifying the stock bonnet to fit a pair of small Naca ducts, partly for looks as I want it to look a little more agressive but also practical as I plan to have one feed the air filter (as well as running a cold air feed from the bottom) and one to cool the supercharger and plenum.

(Not my car by the way just used the image to mess with since it's a full frontal)

Open to comments if anyone has them or knows about them, legalities of having them (scoops seem to be ok so don't see why not), any haters - feel free to comment.
Any wise folk who have info about them being a pita or a great idea lets hear it, what do you guys think?
Also planning on a colour change too, maybe to a dark-ish green or blue (the body work is a mess and needs a respray anyway), not sure if I will get it all done before the bonfire though (or any of it).

Ducts for the bonnet should be arriving next week.
Just bought a 2.5hp compressor and gravity paint gun ready for the colour change, if I screw it up I will just have to get better at it and have another go - what have I got to lose right?
Not long till the bonfire and lots of dents to fix, might be arriving in a half painted car lol
And honestly guys the paint and general body condition of my car is that bad i'm really not worried about making it worse.

Curious as to how these ducts interact with water? Is there a channel or is it just a straight gap?

And props to having a go with the paint. More ambitious than most, myself included!

Yes my engine could end up getting quite wet in a downpour so may have to get creative and come up with a plan, maybe a pair of mini umbrellas sprouting from the bonnet.

Yup. Good on you for having a go though. I tried when I was about 20. Wish you more luck than I had. Have thought about trying again (not on my good one), but havent built up the courage yet.

        Cheers.
My Dad is over in December for a couple of months and said if I screw it up he'll re-do it, he used to have his own garage - a general all round mechanic but was good at spraying too, restored a Rolls once.

Your paint can't be as bad as mine [emoji14] I am waiting to go to the new place which has covered garage, then vinyl wrapping it.
