Masking tape, the clips on the side skirt were a little screwed and we couldn't get it to sit right so the dude glued some of it.

Looks good man...

Black was always a fav colour of mine... Really looks hot on an FTO, especially when buffed and super clean ...

Looks awesome!
Are you happy you ended up getting the work done?
They've done a great job!

Extremely pleased, the dude did an awesome job! The spoiler paint ended up having some 'spots' under under the top part of the wing, he reckoned the fiberglass reacted weirdly or something - he had never seen anything like it.

Car is running real smooth too, exhaust pumps out a fair bit of steam/smoke, not pure white more kinda steamy. The CV joints I think are on there way out but I am not too sure... Cornering on slow speeds in both directions makes a quiet grinding sound., not clicking like I understand CV joints to make though.

I am also tempted to reset the triptronic computer, the auto shifts to 3rd sooo quick and 4th by about 55-60km/h, just seems weird and I'm not even putting the foot down.

Getting into 4th at those speeds is normal. Just drive it in tip cause it's more fun anyway.

As long as you're not dropping it into 1st while rolling at every opportunity I'd say it's gonna be fine, haha. If you're particularly worried just get an external cooler for it which I have heard helps.

Bit of an update and a few questions...

The car seems to sit in second for no longer than 1s, is this normal? It also makes a sort of grinding sound when cornering/ going over bumps. The sound came up after the front top hats were replaced, there was plenty off grease though. Sounds seems to be gradually going away which I'm not sure is good or bad...

Also my radiator cap is fucked, leaks coolant randomly from it, look pretty dead.

Sorry for going back a bit, but ive been told that running in tip mode instead of auto is actually better for the gearbox.

What I tend to do is leave it in tip and just upshift whenever I feel like it and let the auto do the downshifts because downshifting after your car has already decided to downshift for you is just asking for all sorts of trouble.

Cool cool, so the tip will downshift when needed but not up? Or does it just act as normal but give you the choice to override?

It will upshift if you hit the rev limiter so you don't blow up your gearbox. You will never stall when driving in tiptronic. It is essentially a very lenient automatic that lets you choose when to shift. It won't let you downshift if your going too fast for that gear etc. For example if you're doing 140 kph then it won't let you downshift to 3rd and then to 2nd.

Well overheating issue is fixed, flushing the radiator seemed to do it! Perhaps it was the 100% coolant clogging it or a big air bubble?

The stepper motor I suspect is giving me grief, while idling the car sits at 500rpm but I would say on 50% of drives it starts bouncing between 500pm and 0, sometimes cutting out - is this 100% the stepper?

Real tempted to pick up Toby's manual conversion but I would need some serious help with it and I don't think anyone is near VIC?

Took some photos of the car and cleaned up the audio cabling a bunch, also installed the sub and amp.
