Upgrade to Facelift

Post by shiggz »

Hey guys,

I know theres been quite a few threads about this topic, i've looked through quite a few of them, but just want to confirm everything.
Soooo, I have a 95 FTO (pre-facelift), pretty much completely stock.
I'm just about to order a Bozz Speed Facelift Bumper off eBay, I know it's pretty pricey, but i've fallen in love with it haha:

Okayy, so to the point,

This facelift bar will fit on my car correct? I'm pretty sure it would, even with a bit of modding.

In regards to the fogs/indicators:

I saw on a thread that the MG Rover Indicators work for the facelift bumper (Part XBD000180)
I think Dstocks said to get them from Rimmerbros, but the link below is cheaper?

http://www.leacyclassics.com/xbd000180.html <-- this would be the one right?

Also with the fog lights, I saw a post on it too, and they recommended something similar to this:

or
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-3-0-Univ ... 43d48798d5

Hopefully I can find one cheaper, but would this be the right product and size; 3.0"?

(All the important questions are in red, just to get things clear and not miss out on any of them)

Cheers! :)

Your parker lights are the main issue. They are in the indicator unit for prefacelift, but are in the headlights for a facelift. You can drill them into a prefacelift if you know what you are doing (there is a DIY) otherwise you either have to replace the lights or put them somewhere else to be legal.

The bar will fit as prefacelift and facelift basically have the same mount points. Having said that, how well it will fit will depend on the quality of the mould that made it.

Oh and the MG indicators look to be the right ones.

      Hmm, alright

With the parkers, what have you guys done? I couldn't find a DIY on it.
I was just thinking to install another pair of angel eyes around the indicators and connect the wires to the parker wires.

Are those the right fog lights from eBay? 3.0"?
Also which colours does everyone think is best, white or blue?

There are two types of people on forums; those that give helpful advice, and the others

think some rvr models share the same fog lights and indicators as the facelift ftos.
so, you might get lucky and finds one in a local wreckers somewhere (being from the rvr, it'll be a lot cheaper than if you said fto)

There's potential for a thread about anything on FTO Australia

I'm in the process of doing this very upgrade. I managed to pick up a pair of MG ZT indicators, plugs and cable for £17.50 (AUD $38) delivered. Not sure what the postage would be to Oz, but £16.80 per item from Leacy Classics seems a bit dear for one item. As for the 3" fog light, I went for the option with COB halo rings which I'll use as DRL's (I don't see why you couldn't use them as side lights rather than drilling the headlight housing).

I did look into doing both fog and indicator with halo/projector components, but you have to modify the aperture. I'm not adverse to it, but decided I couldn't be bothered with all the other mini projects I'm playing with. My halo fogs should arrive end of next month. So that project can wait until Oct/Nov as getting the car back on the road takes priority. :)
