Fto alarm system

Post by KylinKirkwood »

Hi my FTO alarm system is playing up. I locked it manually by flicking the car open/close switch, then lift up the handle and closing it. When I go to unlock it with the beeper the alarm goes off. What should I do?

Firstly, welcome to the club :D.

The alarm will be an aftermarket one as the FTO didnt come with a factory one (it only had central locking). So as a result, we have no way of knowing what brand it is, let alone what is likely to be wrong with it. First thing, replace the batteries inthe remote and see if that makes a difference. If you got a 2nd remote with it, try that as well. But based on the experience I had with one a few years ago which had similarsymptomsto what you have described, you will have to get an auto electrician to rip it out and potentially replace it with a new one. Sometimes they just die.

Why aren't you using the key fob to arm/lock your system?
