Dash lights not always working

Post by bradicus »

I noticed after driving the the dark my dash lights, dont work all the time, the ones behind the speedos, they are blue lights not sure if they are stock or not. Also one of the back tail lights doesnt work, I have the impression they are related, the car has a custom head unit and some of the speakers dont work, I have the feeling the wiring is bad. Which leads me to believe the people before me have done the wiring in the head unit bad which makes me think its related to the dash lights as its a common thing people do?

If they're blue, they're very likely LEDs - cheap LEDs (especially ones with no resistor) are prone to burning out and flickering intermittently.
Getting the cluster out is a fairly straight forward task...

Have a look through here, toward the bottom for the gauges: http://www.completefto.com.au/Default.aspx?aid=277

I'd say the rest is unrelated. Check the tail light globe.

fixed, the dash lights work its just it had a white thing over them that was installed after that stopped working. Also fixed the rear tail light, was just earthing out on the car since the wire was stripped.
