Engine oil temps on track?

Has anyone fitted an oil temp gauge on their FTO and ran it on the track without an auxiliary oil cooler?

Just wondering if an oil cooler is needed for stockish MIVEC motors if used on track.

I got an oil cooler, bracket and filter relocation if you want to buy it. $100 has pipes but they are leaky, can include them so you can get your own made up. Good quality components.

Thanks for the offer. I wasn't considering buying a cooler though to be honest, just wanted to know whether it was essential or not for track work.

I've never heard of people having issues but I suppose there is certainly no harm.

Best bet is probably to ask Aza, Shane and Jacqueline (I think that's her) who have done track work. But not sure what they all have fitted.

I think most of them were running one, but from memory it wasn't because they were having issues, but more as a precaution.

No I don't run an oil cooler, and I have never had any problems.

I run one because I know my car runs hot. Water temp gets way too hot, which means the oil temp will follow.

My FTO is junk car with 80 000km on odometer which has not been runnin for atleast 5 years. I bought it cheaply as track toy.
It is non mivec and I am currently sorting all problems and track related issues.

I woul like to know what are oil temps to compare with my reading.
I am using 10w40 Liqui Moly MoS2. Outside temp was 25C.
When I was cruising my oil got to temps 115-120C. Its bit hotter than 10W40 likes to operate but still reasonable.
But on small racetrack gauge was hitting 150C really bad.

I dont know what was exatly water temp because stock gauge doesnt work corretly even with new sensor and aftermarket one has not been instaled yet.

Are these temps normal or should I look for something bad? I am learning to know this car. For example dont know if this egine has been equiped with oil to water heat exchanger.

I am also lookin for better oil option for my use here in europe. Still havent decided yet. Maybe some 10w50.
